21 Days, the countdown continues!

My mom and my sister threw me a shower this last weekend. It was great to see so many family members attend! I have pictures I've got to get up on the blog!!

Today is a rough day. Zach is giving me a hard time with all the kicking in the ribs and the major backache. I have a doctor's appointment today at 3:00 p.m. We'll see what she says.

My kids perform at Coe College tonight. I hope to be able to make it...but I guess it's all up to Zach!

False Alarm

Well this has been quite the weekend for Jason and I. We had 2 trips to the hospital in the last 3 days.

Visit #1 - Saturday, January 19
I started having contractions around noon. My kids were scheduled to perform for the Coe College 2:00 Women's basketball game. So, I held on...just kind of "pushed through" the pain that I was feeling and met up with my kids at 1:45. It was clear to many that something wasn't right with "Ms. Jenny". I called Jason and told him that immediately after the performance we were going to the hospital. We got to the hospital at about 3:00 p.m. We waited for a nurse for about 45 minutes...I was getting very agitated by this time. Finally I was hooked up to the heartbeat monitors and Zach sounded to be in really good shape. So that was relieving. They monitored my contractions and told me that I was dilated to a one. They gave me a shot to stop the contractions. This worked for about 20 minutes and the contractions came back. This is when they decided I would be spending the night for observation. My water didn't break and I stayed at a 1. So Sunday morning they sent me home. My contractions had subsided.

Visit #2 - Monday, January 20
I had a rough day feeling like I had been having contractions but nothing as severe as what I felt on Saturday and they didn't seem to be very often. I just overall was feeling uncomfortable. I went to teach dance and during my last class I felt a "leakage" (sorry TMI). I really didn't think much of it until I got home and read the discharge directions I received from the nurse Sunday morning when I left the hospital. I called the Birthplace at Mercy and they told me I needed to come in and make sure that I hadn't ruptured. SO...Jason and I went back to the hospital. I was once again hooked up to the heartbeat monitors and again Zach sounded good and in no stress. They monitored my contractions, they were small and not all that close together. I was tested to make sure that I hadn't leaked any amniotic fluid. This came back negative so...we were sent home!

My hope is on Visit #3 we get to bring home a BABY!

Back at it!

Well, after a 2 week break from dance classes have resumed. The kids are always a little crazy after break so tonight was a little tough. January is a busy month for dance. My kids have a lot of performances coming up! Nothing too exciting too report. Here is our Christmas picture from this year. You can see Gooch but you can only see Pouncer's eyes!

Hockey!

I got to watch my nephew Adam at hockey practice this morning. He's 6 years old. There were players ranging in age from 4 to what looked like 10 or 12! Adam is a good skater, he sort of doddle's...not much aggression. But he can skate!

Leaky Roof!!

Last night when I got to the dance studio the storage room was flooded and the water was pouring out into the studio area. There was a VERY large puddle on the carpet. It was soaked! And probably still is! I thought having my own dance studio was going to be so great!! Wow! It's a lot of work and right now it sucks! The warmer weather is melting the ice and snow off the roof of the mall and the roof is leaking. They said they would have someone out today to look at the roof...I'm not holding my breath.

48 Days...but who's counting?

Zach is estimated to arrive in 48 days! I can hardly wait! I went through his closet last night and put all the clothes we've gotten in order from New Born to 12 months. I know I'm such a dork. But I couldn't help but just gush over all of it. He actually has a lot of clothes! AND CUTE ONES!!! We picked out what we think we'd like to bring him home from the hospital in. I suppose it really depends on how big he actually is! We really haven't done much to the nursery. His crib is up but Grandpa Patrick needs to come over and help me fix the front piece.

Welcome!

I'm excited to create this blog! I've never done this before and I'm sure I'll just learn how to do it by trial and error!

Jason and I are currently living in Cedar Rapids, IA! We're expecting our first baby on February 20, 2008. His name will be Zachary David. I hope to chronicle our experiences as a first time mommy and daddy here in this blog. We're also planning our wedding! I hope to be able to document our adventures through 2008 as this will be an exciting year for us!!
